Genetic variability in the susceptibility of immature peach fruit to Monilinia laxa is associated with surface conductance but not stomatal density

چکیده

Monilinia laxa is a fungus that causes brown rot in stone fruit. Immature green fruits the first stage of fruit development (stage I) are generally susceptible. To investigate relationship between physical characteristics immature and susceptibility to M. laxa, we characterized progeny, derived from clone wild peach (Prunus davidiana) crossed with two commercial nectarines persica) varieties, through laboratory infection, transpiration monitoring stomata counting. Two types infections were observed - ‘classic’ ‘clear spot’ symptoms which have not previously been described literature. The number density did explain variability infection progeny. However, surface conductance was positively correlated level. This study provides experimental evidence partially linking at stage. role delayed cuticle deposition discussed.

Genetic Variability in Beta-Defensins Is Not Associated with Susceptibility to Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia

INTRODUCTION Human beta-defensins are key components of human innate immunity to a variety of pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus. The aim of the present study was to investigate a potential association between gene variations in DEFB1 and DEFB103/DEFB4 and the development of S. aureus bacteremia (SAB) employing a case-control design. METHODS Cases were unique patients with documented ...

CCL22 16C/A Genetic Variation is not Associated with Breast Carcinoma in Southern Iranian Population

Background: CCL22/MDC is a CC chemokine with a critical role in regulation of the immune balance in physiological condition. CCL22/CCR-4 ligation has been documented to participate in the migration of regulatory T (Treg) cells and Th2 lymphocytes to the site of breast tumors; circumstances that are known to be associated with poor prognosis. Objective: To investigate the association of a single...

Genetic Variation in the TNF Gene Is Associated with Susceptibility to Severe Sepsis, but Not with Mortality

BACKGROUND Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and TNF receptor superfamily (TNFR)-mediated immune response play an essential role in the pathogenesis of severe sepsis. Studies examining associations of TNF and lymphotoxin-α (LTA) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with severe sepsis have produced conflicting results. The objective of this study was to investigate whether genetic variation in TNF, ...

[Letter to the Editor] DNA Fragmentation Is Not Associated with Apoptosis in Zerumbone-induced HepG2 Cells

Zerumbone is a cytotoxic compound isolated from the herbal plant, Zingiber zerumbet Smith, which exhibits antitumor activity [1-2], anti-inflammatory effects and possesses anti-proliferative potentials in a variety of cell lines [3-4]. DNA fragmentation indicates an early event of apoptosis leading to cell death due to the absence of new cellular proteins synthesizing for cell survival. Previou...

Genetic variability for stomatal conductance in Pima cotton and its relation to improvements of heat adaptation.

Responses of stomata to environment have been intensively studied, but little is known of genetic effects on stomatal conductance or their consequences. In Pima cotton (Gossypium barbadense L.), a crop that is bred for irrigated production in very hot environments, stomatal conductance varies genetically over a wide range and has increased with each release of new higher-yielding cultivars. A c...
